چکیده

oxaphene (CAS 8001-35-2) is the common name for a complex mixture of chlorinated camphenes and bornane derivatives resulting from the chlorination of camphene (ATSDR 1994). More than twothirds of the isomers contain 7 to 9 chlorine atoms (CCREM 1987), the molecular weight averaging 414 g⋅mol (Eisler and Jacknow 1985). Toxaphene, also known as campheclor, chlorocamphene, or polychlorocamphene (PCC), is typically an amber-coloured waxy solid with a pine or terpene odour (Brooks 1974; Budavari et al. 1989).

Habitat-based PCB environmental quality criteria for the protection of endangered killer whales (Orcinus orca).

The development of an area-based polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) food-web bioaccumulation model enabled a critical evaluation of the efficacy of sediment quality criteria and prey tissue residue guidelines in protecting fish-eating resident killer whales of British Columbia and adjacent waters. Model-predicted and observed PCB concentrations in resident killer whales and Chinook salmon were in g...

Toxaphene is a manufactured pesticide comprising a complex mixture of hundreds of chlorinated terpenes. After DDT was banned from use in the United States in 1972, toxaphene became the most popular substitute. Control of pests on cotton crops was the principal use of toxaphene in the United States, although the pesticide was used to control a variety of insects on a range of crops and to eradic...

OH-CTTs - synthesis and characterisation

The multicomponent mixture toxaphene belongs to the most intensively used organochlorine pesticides worldwide. The total amount of toxaphene that has been applied is estimated to exceed one million tons. Although its use was discontinued in most countries in the 1980s, toxaphene residues are still frequently detected in various environmental samples and biota due to long-range atmospheric trans...

Reproduction and Residue Accumulation in Black Ducks

Three sets of 15 pairs of black ducks (Anas rubripes) were given 0, 10, or 50 ppm toxaphene in a dry mash diet for a period of 19 months, which included two breeding seasons. Survival of adults was not affected, but the weights of treated males were depressed during the summer months. Egg production, fertility, hatchability, eggshell thickness, growth, and survival of young did not vary with to...
